  • Evaluate a patient who presents with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation
  • Describe appropriate management strategies for newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation, PAF, persistent and permanent AF.
  • Identify and manage reversible causes of atrial fibrillation

Learning Objectives

  • List rhythm control strategies
  • Discuss antiarrhythmic medications that may be used to maintain normal sinus rhythm in a patient following successful spontaneous, electrical, or pharmacologic cardioversion
  • Cite surgical and catheter interventions used in the management of atrial fibrillation.
