Chapter Introduction

Get to Know Your Chapter Leadership Team!

The Boston PCNA Chapter was established in 2014 to serve as a place for PCNA members in the region to connect and collaborate. While many active chapter members are in the Boston area, we also are thrilled to have participation from nurses in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine. Our members’ expertise is wide-ranging and spans all levels of prevention and stages of life; in recognition of this, we design our yearly Fall program to interest as broad an audience as possible. In the future, our chapter strives for greater participation in regular networking events, and to act as a resource for prevention to local communities.

The current Boston Chapter Leader, MaryBeth Vieira PhD, RN, CNE, is an Assistant Professor at the Johnson & Wales College of Health and Wellness Nursing Program.  She has over 27 years of clinical and nursing education experience. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston College in 1998, her Master of Science degree from UMass Dartmouth in 2006, and her PhD in nursing from UMass Dartmouth in 2018.  Her clinical experience centers around medical and surgical critical care, specifically in the adult cardiac population.  Her primary research focus is cardiovascular health in disadvantaged women, particularly regarding prevention of cardiovascular disease through physical activity.  She also has completed preliminary research on the complementary benefits of service learning in nursing experiential education.
