Chapter Background
Get to Know Your Chapter Leadership Team!
The Central Virginia PCNA Chapter was started in 2005 by Suzanne Fuhrmeister and Regina Stottlemyer. Members consist of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and exercise physiology staff from cardiac rehab, acute care, clinics, university medical centers, private and community hospitals and physician offices.
Our goal is to provide outreach, fellowship, networking, and continuing education opportunities while striving to provide the best care for our cardiac patients and the community.
The chapter is currently led by Robin Passantino, BSN RN B-C and Mary Anne Poling, BSN, RN.
Robin has worked at the University of Virginia Hospital for 35 years, the first twenty-four years in neurology/neurosurgery. She had a change of “heart” in 2013 while finishing her RN to BSN program from the University of Virginia. She transferred to an acute cardiology unit, studied to get certification and joined PCNA! Robin has since worked as an RN coordinator for UVA cardiologists and now works in an invasive cardiology pre and post procedural unit. She has learned so much and made great friends (truly mentors) through PCNA Symposium and the Central Virginia chapter events. She looks forward to coordinating upcoming chapter programs and networking with likeminded cardiovascular professionals.
Mary Anne Poling is a dedicated Cardiac Clinical Navigator specializing in inpatient heart failure management at the Central Heart and Vascular Institute in Lynchburg, Virginia. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education, Mary Anne combines her passion for healthcare with a love for learning and teaching. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education, further enhancing her ability to educate and mentor future nursing professionals. In her role, Mary Anne is committed to providing exceptional care and support to patients with heart failure, ensuring they receive comprehensive management tailored to their needs. Her expertise is complemented by her enthusiasm for continuous education, both for herself and for her colleagues in the nursing field.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Mary Anne enjoys exploring her creative side through pottery courses and has a deep appreciation for historical dramas. She cherishes spending time with her husband, three children, and their dogs, embracing the joy of family life. Mary Anne believes in the power of community and education to improve health outcomes and is excited to contribute to the mission of the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association as a co-leader.
