About Heart Failure

Heart Failure is a chronic progressive disease that continues to contribute to increasing rates of mortality and morbidity. There are several recent developments in heart failure disease management, including new classes of medications and unique combination therapies.

In 2022, guidelines for heart failure management were updated to reflect these findings. Updates include new classifications of heart failure, four classes of goal-directed medication therapy, recommendations for SGLT2 inhibitors, recommendations or screening amyloid patients, an emphasis on team-based care in heart failure therapy referrals, and management recommendations for heart failure patients with other comorbid conditions such as atrial fibrillation, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and much more.
