Dr. Briana Hutchinson is an affiliate faculty member at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, where she teaches undergraduate nursing students through hands-on instruction in laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership in May 2026. Her doctoral project focused on reducing patient fall rates on an inpatient medical-surgical/telemetry unit by implementing automated fall risk assessment technology to improve the accuracy of risk prediction.
Dr. Hutchinson is passionate about quality improvement and advancing patient safety initiatives in clinical practice. She is also deeply interested in the evolving role of technology in healthcare and is particularly curious about how artificial intelligence can be integrated into nursing practice to enhance clinical decision-making, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
