Sara Severson

Dr. Sara Severson serves as the NPPA Director for Cardiology at Mayo Clinic, providing strategic, operational, and professional leadership for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. In this role, she partners on the executive leadership team with physician and administrative leadership to advance clinical practice initiatives, optimize care delivery, and ensure NPPA alignment with departmental and enterprise priorities. Dr. Severson also leads the Mayo Clinic Cardiology NPPA Enterprise Subcommittee, which focuses on aligning institutional goals and implementing strategic initiatives across the enterprise to promote consistency, collaboration, and professional growth. She oversees practice integration, professional development, and workforce planning across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings—fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation that reflects Mayo Clinic’s mission and values.
