Chapter Background

Get to Know Your Chapter Leadership Team!

The Rocky Mountain Chapter, started in 2010, provides local opportunities for learning and professional growth through education and networking. Chapter activities include continuing education programs in the spring and fall, exhibits at local professional conferences, and chapter networking meetings. Both members and non-members are invited to attend chapter events. In addition, we support the professional development of members by applying for fellowship status and encouraging award and abstract submission for PCNA’s Annual Cardiovascular Nursing Symposium.

We strive to engage with cardiovascular professionals, grow participation in chapter activities, increase awareness of PCNA and its benefits, and grow PCNA membership. To further our reach and involvement in cardiovascular prevention in the state, we partner with other professional organizations including the Colorado Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, the Southwest Chapter of National Lipid Association, the Society for Vascular Nursing, and Million Hearts.

Past presidents include Susan Bush, Judith Collins, Sally Foland, and Cheri Nichols. Chapter members who are PCNA fellows are Susan Bush, Judith Collins, Sally Foland, and Cheri Nichols. Chapter founders include Susan Bush, Judith Collins, Cheri Nichols, Lisa Jensen, and Julie Abramoff.

The current Chapter Leader, Lori Smith MBA-HC, BSN, RRT, CCRP, is currently Nurse Manager of Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation at UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in Woodland Park.  Her specialties include cardiovascular, pulmonary, critical care, flight nursing, case management, resource utilization and administration. She has obtained specialty certifications in both Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.  Prior to joining UCHealth, Lori started her career at Parkview Medical Center as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.  She continued her education obtaining her nursing degrees and a Master’s in Business Administration with a focus in Healthcare. She has recently joined the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA) Rocky Mountain Leadership team.
