Chapter Background
The Knoxville, TN chapter was started in December 2025. Our goal is to support the East Tennessee region by providing nurses and healthcare professionals in Knox and surrounding counties with access to the most current, evidence-based practices in cardiovascular care. Our chapter is committed to creating an inclusive environment that encourages community, connection, and ongoing professional growth.
The current Chapter Leaders are Jennifer McCombs, RN, MSN-Ed, CNE-n, CVRN-BC and Carrie Love, MSN-Ed, RN.
Jennifer McCombs has been a Tennessean since 2006. She is an alum of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she earned her BSN with a minor in Psychology in 2011, and completed her Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2023. Jennifer brings 13 years of experience in cardiac nursing, spanning interventional and surgical cardiac care as well as intensive care. She has been a PCNA member since 2015 and earned her CVRN-BC certification in 2014 and CNEn certification in 2024. Jennifer currently works as an RN on a cardiothoracic surgical step-down unit and as a pre-licensure nursing coach at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her personal interests include gardening, hiking, and writing, and she is passionate about advancing women’s heart health.
Carrie Love is a Pre-licensure Nursing Coach at the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s College of Nursing. She has previously worked in the areas of cardio-thoracic step-down, transitional care management, and triage. Her professional interests include patient and caregiver education related to chronic heart disease and diabetes management; mentorship and academic development of nursing students; and researching social determinants of health and their impact on health promotion in East Tennessee and rural Appalachia. In her free time, Carrie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading historical fiction, traveling and learning about other cultures, and playing with her pup Rosie!
