Bio

Deb Grotenhuis is an RN Care Coordinator in the UVA Heart and Vascular Clinics focusing currently on vascular medicine.  She is a former president of the Monticello Chapter of the AACN. She is currently serving as a co-leader for the Central Virginia Chapter of the PCNA. She has been PCCN  certified, and is currently CCCTM certified.  She entered nursing school as a non-traditional student and was in the first graduating classes of both the LPN and RN programs at Lord Fairfax Community College’s Warrenton, VA campus.  She was awarded for highest academic performance in both classes. She went on to complete her BSN at James Madison University.  She is interested in health promotion and disease prevention.  She is also interested in promoting a good understanding of what nurses do and follows the organization established by Sandy Summers, RN, MSN, MPH, The Truth About Nursing: Changing How the World Thinks about Nursing. She is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, binger of Ted Lasso and Foundation, a lover of flowers, and successfully completed four half-marathons while earning her BSN and is now retired from running.  Her motto is treat others as you want to be treated.
