Ashley Daniel is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN, where she attended Harding Academy High School and then studied Biology and psychology at Lyon College. Prior to graduation, she decided to pursue a career in nursing, so she attended nursing school at the University of Memphis-Loewenberg College of Nursing. Ashley graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2016. Then, a few years later, she decided to chase my dreams of becoming a nurse practitioner. She attened Union University, graduating in 2020 with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in family practice. Throughout her years as a nurse, she has gained valuable hospital and clinic experience in various specialties ranging from neuroscience, orthopedics, ortho-spine, and pain management. As a nurse practitioner, she has practiced solely in cardiology. Ashley has gained invaluable experience seeing patients independently of overseeing physicians during multiple clinics weekly, in addition to working in tandem with her physician to see more patients. She has treated patients with an assortment of cardiac conditions ranging from hypertension, coronary and carotid artery disease, cardioembolic stroke, arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac amyloidosis, and heart failure.
In her spare time, she coaches competitive volleyball for a local club, volunteers for her church by teaching middle school, and works out frequently at Orange Theory Fitness.
Emily Mewborn is a researcher and nurse practitioner. She grew up in the Memphis area and earned three degrees from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC): BSN (2009), DNP (2013), and PhD (2023). She worked for ten years as a nurse practitioner in primary care before transitioning to a postdoctoral research position at the University of Pittsburgh after she completed her PhD. Emily’s clinical and research passions are investigating cardiovascular disease risk factors, improving disease risk estimation, and precision health treatment. Her research focuses on a specific genetic risk factor for coronary artery disease (haptoglobin genotype). Through her postdoc, she is expanding this research by investigating this gene’s impact on cognition and dementia, recognizing the crucial link between heart and brain health. She is passionate about increasing the visibility and inclusion of nurses as decision-makers for patient care, in administration, and in research. From bench science to bedside, Emily loves every aspect of nursing and how we improve patient care and outcomes! She is a proud wife, mom of two boys, snow skier, and plant-based foodie.
