PCNA to Offer Continuing Education on Acute Coronary Syndrome This July

(June 26, 2014) The Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA), headquartered in Madison, Wis., will host a live webinar, “Acute Coronary Syndrome: Safe Transition to Home… and Health” at 1 p.m. ET on July 30.

Faculty for the webinar include Jeffrey S. Berger, MD, MS, Kim Newlin, RN, CNS, ANP-C, FPCNA, and Kathy Berra, MSN, ANP-BC, FAHA, FPCNA, FAAN, as moderator. The objectives for this webinar are to describe the trajectory of an effective acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patient education strategy in the acute care setting, from ED presentation to hospital discharge and to identify methods for the integration of cardiac rehabilitation as an integral component of the care pathway for the ACS patient. Additionally, we’ll look at list of strategies for adherence to the secondary prevention medication “cocktail”, and cite the role of the early post discharge follow-up visit on ACS readmission rates.

“PCNA is pleased to have the opportunity to reach nurses and advanced practice nurses with this important content on ACS transitions. A team approach is critical to high-quality, patient-centered care and reducing readmission rates,” says Kim Newlin, APN faculty member on this program. “We are especially pleased to have Dr. Jeffrey Berger, a thought leader in the area of antiplatelet therapy, participating as faculty.”

This complimentary CE program webinar is being provided through an educational grant from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and offers 1 contact hour of RN, NP continuing education credit. Visit pcna.net to register and learn more about this event.
