The Chicagoland PCNA Chapter started in 2004 and was led by Lisa Retherford. This chapter serves Chicago, the near suburbs, southern Illinois, northern Indiana and southern Wisconsin areas.
Members work in a variety of settings across the continuum of care including: acute care, ambulatory settings, clinics, cardiac rehab, and universities. Membership includes a broad array of disciplines: RNs, NPs, CNSs, nursing faculty, registered dietitians, pharmacists, exercise trainers and health coaches.
The Chicagoland Chapter has offered regular educational programs that advance the knowledge of their members and promote networking and have been committed to community service. One unique aspect about this chapter is that two PCNA Presidents have come from this region: Lynne Braun and Lola Coke. Also, Meg Gulanick, a member of the Chicagoland chapter for many years, served on the national PCNA board for six years.
“As a Chicagoland Chapter leader, my goal is to establish a leadership committee that will plan chapter events. Also, I believe that this will serve as a mechanism to continue our legacy of developing leaders in cardiovascular risk reduction.” - Marcia Murphy
