The Atlanta PCNA Chapter was started in 2004 by Jan McAlister. It serves the Atlanta Metro area and surrounding suburban areas such as Marietta, Alpharetta, Gwinnett, Decatur, Fayetteville, Griffin, and northeast Georgia.
Members include nurse practitioners, registered nurses, cardiac rehabilitation nurses, cardiology and prevention nurses, CHF nurses, dietitians and primary care nurses.
The Atlanta Chapter is one of the original chapters of PCNA and their leader, Jan McAlister, was originally part of the Lipid Nurse Task Force before PCNA was started.
The goal this year of the Atlanta Chapter is to develop a community project in the Atlanta area. They have worked with the Women to Women project in Atlanta and held half day symposiums.
“In the future it would be a wonderful accomplishment to work with the numerous nursing programs in the area on prevention and education to the public and surrounding communities.” - Jan McAlister
