Patient Booklet: How do you measure up?

This 14-page booklet will help patients to understand if they have normal, are at risk for, or have high blood pressure and what they can do to achieve normal blood pressure. This booklet was written in easy-to-understand language and includes charts, checklists, and quizzes to help patients track their progress in lowering their blood pressure.

Patient Handout: High Blood Pressure

This double-sided patient handout is a companion piece to the 2010 PCNA brochure “Blood Pressure: How Do You Measure Up?” This piece summarizes strategies to control blood pressure, including: understanding blood pressure numbers and cardiovascular risk, reducing sodium consumption, selecting and using a home blood pressure monitor, and understanding medications.

We are pleased to offer the first order of PCNA patient education materials to all health care providers at no charge. To place repeat orders, PCNA membership is required.

NOTICE: New Blood Pressure guidelines were recently outlined in the 2014 Evidence-Based Guideline for the Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults: Report From the Panel Members Appointed to the Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC 8) published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)PCNA awaits publication of a new hypertension guideline recently announced by a group of professional organizations, including AHA, ACC, and ASH with anticipated publication in late 2014 or early 2015. We anticipate that these recommendations will be incorporated into a new iteration of our patient education materials.
